Fred received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah and his master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After school he spent 25 years teaching U.S. history, German and World Geography for junior high and high school students in Salt Lake City. He has also taught in Alaska and China. In addition to teaching he has several very diverse vocations: he was a diamond buyer for one year in Los Angeles, California; he was a fastener salesman in Salt Lake City for two years; volunteered in Germany and Austria, each for two years.
